Gardens

Welcome to the Memorial Gardens at J’s and B’s Church, Fenham, Newcastle.

The memorial gardens are a lovely place to spend time and reflect. During the summer months, tables and chairs are put out for you to use in the sun!
Whether its the Fenham Markets, visiting musicians, space for picnics, the childrens Easter egg hunt, or just a quiet corner to sit and watch the world go by, there is something for everybody to enjoy.

The memorial gardens at St. James’ and St. Basil’s Church are maintained by a team of volunteers supported by our paid gardener, Penny Hunter.

Gardners gather together most Tuesday mornings for a few hours to identify and plan work that needs to be done and lend a hand. Once specific tasks have been decided upon, people are free to come and go to work on the tasks as and when their time allows them.

The Gardens are not a burial ground. They are private gardens in which there are some benches given in memorial of local people and we do have a small area decicated for the burial of ashes. The Church Council receive no public funding to manage and maintain the gardens for the local community. If you'd like to know more about sponsoring a month or two on behalf of the community, to make a donation towards the upkeep and maintainance, please do get in touch
