Study & Fellowship

Studying and meeting together is at the heart of our Christian lives

We Gather together as the people of God to learn more about the faith we profess, we do this by studying Church history, theology, and primarily through the study of Scripture. Here at J's & B's, we gather together through the year to study as a church. During the seasons of Advent and Lent, we gather in preparation for the great seasons of Christmas and Easter. These studies tend to be thematic, looking at stories and scriptures that aid our worship and learning as we journey through those seasons, building our expectations as we look forward to those celebrations of Christ's life.

During the rest of the year we gather still, these studies can be on a variety of subjects. we gather usually around food, and after sharing in food and fellowship we take time to study and learn together

heroines of the faith: Esther and Ruth (2024)

we will be studying together the books of Esther and Ruth using Eugene H. Peterson's study books. we will be meeting at the Curate's house on alternate Wednesdays beginning with a shared simple meal at 6:30 pm. The two books are not compulsory for the study but they are designed to be coloured in and annotated if you would find that helpful. There is a sign-up sheet in the church if you wish to join these studies.

If you have any questions do contact our Curate Ryan. His details can be found on the 'Contact Us' page.

The first session will begin on the 19th of June. All are welcome, and talk to Revd Ryan for details.

Prayer and Intercession

All are welcome to attend this time of teaching and learning where we will look at the importance of prayer as both a private personal discipline and rhythm and prayer as a corporate event that happens as part of our Sunday services. The teaching will run from 6 pm at St James' & St Basil's church Fenham. This season will be part of a training event for those who wish to lead the prayers of intercessions at church; this season is open to all even if you do not wish to lead public prayers at a service. Attending this is not an automatic sign-up to our rota!
